Poland and Israel in economy, defence talks

Israeli President Reuven Rivlin met with Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz on Wednesday, as part of his two-day official visit to Poland, where they discussed economic and military cooperation.

“The Prime Minister and the Israeli President discussed possibilities for further efforts to improve relations between Israeli and Polish societies, including the expansion of the youth exchange program between Poland and Israel,” a statement by the PM office said on wednesday.

Ewa Kopacz and Reuven Rivlin also discussed improving bilateral military cooperation as well as initiating collaboration on cyber security and steps to improve economic cooperation, including the creation of more links between Polish and Israeli academic research.

The meeting with Prime Minister Kopacz comes a day after President Rivlin opened Warsaw’s new Jewish history museum and had a discussion with President Bronisław Komorowski about Polish-Israeli relations.

President Rivlin also met the parliamentary speaker, and former foreign minister, Radosław Sikorski and laid wreathes in front of plaques commemorating Polish MPs who died in both the Smolensk disaster of 2010 and WWII. (sl/pg)
