Those members of the outgoing EU commission, the union’s chief executive body, who have won seats on the European Parliament have declined their severance pay, daily Gazeta Wyborcza reports.

While Lewandowski has also been elected member of the European Parliament, he has declined to follow the example of his colleagues.

He was quoted as saying that he intends instead to increase his charitable donations.

Lewandowski is entitled to half of his commissioner’s salary of EUR 23,200 a month for three years. (an)
