Polish President extends Kosovo deployment

President Bronislaw Komorowski signed off on the extension of the Polish peacekeeping missions to Kosovo, Macedonia and Bosnia-Herzegovina.

On Tuesday the president signed off on the deployment of 300 soldiers to Kosovo and neighbouring nations to 30 June 2015. The previous legal authorisation for the deployment runs out with the end of this year.

The decision had previously won approval of the cabinet.

The Polish troops in the former Yugoslav republics form part of a NATO peacekeeping mission. The mission has sanction of the Security Council of the United Nations.

Poland has been maintained military presence in the region since 1999. (an)
