The announcement came on Tuesday morning from Defence Ministry spokesman Col. Jacek Sońta, who said that the training sessions will initially take place in June, then in September and October.

Contrary to earlier reports, the training sessions will take place in Poland, and not Ukraine as previously mooted.

The Ukrainians have so far declared that around 50 military personnel are to attend the courses, which are being held under the auspices of NATO’s DEEP – Ukraine programme.

NATO’s Defence Education Enhancement Programme – Ukraine aims to bring Ukraine forces up to the Alliance’s standards, with Poland and a number of other countries taking part in the programme.

The exercises will be run under the ‘train the trainers’ method, with a number of methodological courses taking place as part of the programme.

All the courses are to paid for jointly by NATO as well as the Polish Ministry of Defence. (jb)
