The event will mark the first time a Polish president has addressed the Council, according to Jaromir Sokołowski from the presidential chancellery.

While in the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, Komorowski will also hold talks with his Ukrainian counterpart, Petr Poroshenko.

Last December, Pororshenko himself headed a special assembly of Polish MPs and senators and thanked them for supporting his country during the crisis.

During the April visit, President Komorowski will also visit a Polish War Cemetery in Bykivnia, which is the resting place of around 3,5000 Polish officers who were murdered by Soviet troops in the 1940 cull, known today as the Katyn massacre. (rg)
