The Łódź team will be competing against rival student groups from around the globe in the October race.

On 18 October, a series of solar-powered vehicles will depart from Darwin on a 3000 km race to Adelaide.

The race has been held since 1987, drawing together contestants from the world's best technical colleges.

The team from Łódź takes in 25 students and their vehicle has been named Eagle 1.

The roof contains five square metres of solar panels, and the vehicle can reach a maximum of 100 km per hour. However, during the race 'Eagle 1' should travel at an average of 70 km per hour. (nh)
