The agreement was signed during a visit in Beijing by Polish Defence Minister Tomasz Siemoniak.

This will be the first such official visit of the Chinese navy in Poland.

Recent years have seen intensive discussion between the Polish and Chinese defense ministries.

Siemoniak spoke in Beijing about the development of this cooperation. One of its objectives is the training of Polish officers in China and Chinese officers in Poland.

The Chinese ships docking in Poland is an important step in the relationship between the two countries, Siemoniak said.

“I see this as a friendly gesture, underlining the importance of cooperation at sea. China is also a partner in NATO, when it comes to anti-piracy operations in the area around Africa and the Indian Ocean,” Defence Minister Siemoniak said in Beijing. (rg/rk)
