The outgoing US ambassador to Poland, Stephen Mull, said there is no possibility that Washington will be involved in talks on resolving the situation in the eastern Ukrainian region of Donbas.

“We must respect the will of the president of Ukraine, who wants to talk to Russia accompanied only by Germany and France,” Mull said in an interview with Radio ZET.

Polish President Andrzej Duda has appealed for a change in the Normandy format, to include representatives of the countries neighboring Ukraine, EU institutions and the US.

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko during a visit to Berlin said the Normandy format in which Ukraine, Russia, Germany and France would be involved, was sufficient.

Mull said that "over the next two to three weeks" it would be decided on when newly inaugurated Duda would be received by US president, Barack Obama. (jh/rk)
