"On Friday I meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the plan is to meet with the president's political advisers, and [president] Petro Poroshenko and Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, depending on their availability," Szczerski said.

On Wednesday Szczerski met with Polish Foreign Minister Grzegorz Schetyna and said the government and president had agreed on a common foreign policy position for Ukraine, this following some days of haggling over Poland's stance regarding talks on resolving the ongoing war in the east of the country.

“The idea is to maintain policy convergence,” he said.

"President [Andrzej] Duda wants me to talk about the current situation in Ukraine, implementation of the Minsk agreements, the state of reforms, the situation in the east of the country, especially in the context of local elections which are scheduled for the end of October,” he added.

Asked whether talks will concern the possibility of Poland being involved in discussions on a settlement of the situation in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, the minister said that Poland does not intend to enter the Normandy Format of talks. (jh/rk)
