The boy, who had been living in the UK for two years with his parents and siblings, may have been taken back to Poland by his family, according to British authorities.

High Court Judge Nicholas Mostyn has released an order to locate the child.

It is understood that the boy's parents are anxious that the surgery could disfigure the 10-year-old, and they are allegedly hoping to use Chinese medicine to deal with the tumour.

However, Judge Mostyn has argued that the surgery is imperative if the boy is to live.

The unambiguous medical evidence given to me in writing and orally by a distinguished paediatric oncologist ... is that if [the tumour] is not removed very soon then in six months to a year (the boy) will die a brutal and agonising death.

It has been reported that that the boy left his UK home with his mother two weeks ago, and that the father took a ferry to France in recent days.

It is a strong thing for me, a stranger, to disagree with and override the wishes of (the boy) and his parents,” Judge Mostyn stated.

But I have absolutely no doubt that (the boy) must be given the chance, a very good chance, of a long and fulfilling life rather than suffering, quite soon, a ghastly, agonising, death.” (nh/rk)
