Duda was escorted to the section of the wall closest to Beijing, where he held a press briefing summing up his trip.

The president described his talks with Prime Minister Li Keqiang and President Xi Jinping as very good.

I hope that they will provide a significant impulse to the opening of the Chinese market, above for Polish agricultural goods,” he said.

Duda likewise noted that Poland hopes to sell more mining machinery to China and that this topic had been discussed.

Since Monday, the Polish president has taken part in two economic forums, besides meeting Chinese politicians.

France and China are keen to cooperate on building a nuclear power station in a third country. The Chinese prime minister raised this subject with Duda. Although a location has not been chosen, plans for a Polish plant repeatedly surfaced over the last few years.

However, Duda told journalists on Thursday that he had said to Prime Minister Li Keqiang that discussion on this subject is ongoing in Poland at the moment and we will see how it develops.”

Later on Thursday, Duda will meet with members of China's small Polish community. He will also attend a performance by one of the prize-winners of this year's International Chopin Competition, which was hosted in Warsaw.

He returns to Poland on Friday. (nh/rk)
