Ukrainian prosecutors have launched a probe into a December trip by the maverick Polish politician to the Crimea region, which was annexed by Russia in 2014.

The IAR news agency reported that Korwin-Mikke travelled to Crimea from Russia and did not pass through Ukrainian border controls.

Ukrainian media have described Korwin-Mikke as a sympathiser of Russian President Vladimir Putin and as a politician with anti-Ukrainian views.

Korwin-Mikke is a flamboyant, outspoken, Eurosceptic politician and the leader of a fringe Polish party called the Coalition for the Renewal of the Republic - Liberty and Hope. (pk)
