Belgian media reported another blast struck a metro station in Brussels, adding that at least 13 people had been killed and dozens injured in the explosions.

The Belgian government has confirmed that there were casualties as a result of two explosions in the airport's departure lounge.

However, no numbers have been officially provided as of yet, nor have the nationalities of the victims.

The foreign ministry in Warsaw is checking whether any Poles were caught up in the blasts.

LOT is providing a coach service from Dusseldorf for those wanting to continue the journey to the Belgian capital.

The explosions come four days after the arrest in Brussels of Salah Abdeslam, the key suspect in the 13 November 2015 attacks on Paris. (nh/pk)
