The current situation in the European Union following the UK referendum and bilateral relations, including economic cooperation, were among the other topics discussed on Wednesday by Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Katarzyna Kacperczyk and Kristóf Altusz, Undersecretary of State at the Hungarian Ministry of Trade and Foreign Affairs.

Kacperczyk also pointed to the steadily growing trade exchange between Poland and Hungary, whose value in 2015 reached almost EUR 8 billion.

The discussion also focused on security policy, including the forthcoming NATO summit in Warsaw, and on eastern policy. While discussing the current situation in the EU and security issues, including energy, both sides agreed on the need to further strengthen regional cooperation to make their voice better heard in the Europe-wide debate on the future of the EU.

In addition, Deputy Minister Kacperczyk presented the priorities of the Polish presidency of the Visegrad Group, which begins on 1 July.
