Polish President to attend Ukrainian independence anniversary in Kiev

Polish President Andrzej Duda will travel to Kiev where he will meet his Ukrainian counterpart Petro Poroshenko during events marking the 25th anniversary of the country's independence.

The two presidents will discuss the prospects for stability in the region.

“President Duda will be the only foreign head of state to attend the ceremony,” presidential aide Krzysztof Szczerski said.

Duda will also meet bishop Vitaliy Skomarovskyi, Bishop of the Diocese of Lutsk, Ukraine.

The celebrations of the anniversary of Ukrainian independence will be held in the main square of Kiev, Independence Square, on Wednesday.
