Fourteen people have been detained in total in Poland, Lithuania and Latvia, Polish border guards said on Tuesday.

"The group was engaged in organizing illegal migration from Vietnam, through Russia and the Baltic countries, to Poland," said Agnieszka Golias, a spokeswoman for the Polish border guard service.

"The core of the group was detained in Poland, two Russian citizens of Chechen nationality and a Polish citizen.”

Golias said the men were charged with being part of an international organized criminal gang. They face up to 10 years in prison.

Polish border guards have detained 42 illegal migrants in connection with the case, while another 42 people have been detained by the Lithuanian and Latvian authorities, Golias said. All of them are citizens of Vietnam.
