Morawiecki, who is also Poland's deputy Prime Minister, met Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko on Monday in Minsk.

Lukashenko said he wanted to see increased cooperation and trade.

“There are some unfortunate facts about our economy and our relations,” he said, adding he hoped these could be overcome.

While in Minsk, Morawiecki opened the 20th Polish-Belarusian Economic Forum, where a letter of intent for a Polish-Belarusian IPO Centre was signed by officials from the Warsaw Stock Exchange, among others.

The centre will offer education, consultation and legal advice for Belarusian entrepreneurs and will make access to modern sources of financing using the Polish capital market easier for Belarusian businesses. (vb/pk)
