Poland wants to talk about “implementation of allied decisions from July, to be absolutely sure that there will not be any hesitation, as happened eight years ago when President Barack Obama put the missile defence shield on hold,” Waszczykowski said.

“We will want to get confirmation from the Americans that allied decisions will be implemented," Waszczykowski told private broadcaster TVN 24.

At a Warsaw summit in July, NATO states decided to deploy four rotating battalions of about 1,000 soldiers each to the alliance’s eastern flank, including to Poland, amid fears of potential Russian aggression.

In addition, the United States announced that an armoured brigade would be sent to Poland.
