EuCo head Tusk meets UK PM May

President of the European Council and former Polish PM Donald Tusk has met British PM Theresa May a week after the UK kicked off the process of leaving the EU.

Though both May and Tusk declined to speak to the press after the meeting, Tusk took to Twitter, saying: “Meeting PM May to make sure Brexit talks get off to good start”.

He added that he and May agreed to keep in touch throughout the process.

A spokesman for 10 Downing Street said the UK wanted “a deep and special partnership with the EU”, a spokesman said.

One of Poland's major Brexit concerns is the fate of the near one million Poles living in the UK.

Brexit proceedings are expected to take two years.

Currently, guidelines are being set to determine how proceedings will be conducted. (vb/pk)
