A draft resolution condemning an attack on the Polish consulate in Lutsk, western Ukraine, and other anti-Polish incidents has been put forward in parliament in Kiev.

The move follows an attack in March in which a grenade launcher was probably used to put a hole in the top floor of the Polish consulate in Lustk, and earlier damage to memorials dedicated to the memory of Poles who were killed during WWII in Huta Pieniacka and Bykivnia.

The draft resolution suggests Russia was behind the anti-Polish attacks, while its authors, members of a Ukrainian parliamentary committee on ties with Poland, have called for an efficient investigation.

The document wants Ukraine’s parliament to condemn Russian attempts to damage relations between Poles and Ukrainians.

Ukraine’s ambassador to Warsaw has previously suggested a deterioration in Polish-Ukrainian relations served Russia’s interests. (vb/pk)
