“Economic cooperation is – next to cooperation in security – the second pillar of Polish-US relations,” said Ziółkowski during the meeting.

The talks covered the prospects of Polish-US economic cooperation. Ziółkowski thanked Stewart for the commitment of US companies to invest in Poland.

The highlight of the agenda was the issue of shaping the new US administration and President Donald Trump’s activities in the area of commercial policy, as well as prospects of renewing talks on redefining transatlantic cooperation in trade and investment.

Ziółkowski and Stewart also discussed preparations for the mission of US-Poland Business Council (USPLBC) due on 24-25 May which brings together representatives of major American businesses in Warsaw.

The Council, which brings together 19 businesses, was established in July 2010. Its mission is to promote Polish-US commercial relations by among others arranging visits of senior officials and economic missions. The first economic mission to Poland was organised on 18-19 October 2010. (rg)
