The EU Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) meeting is expected to focus on relations between the EU and Africa ahead of an EU-African Union summit scheduled for late November, the Polish foreign ministry said.

The EU ministers are expected to discuss “potential fields of cooperation” with Africa and common solutions to challenges and threats posed by migration and terrorism, according to the Polish foreign ministry.

Waszczykowski is also scheduled to take part in a ceremony at which more than 20 EU member states are expected to sign a declaration to launch the so-called Permanent Structured Cooperation (PESCO) initiative, aimed at deepening military cooperation within the bloc, according to the Polish foreign ministry.

As part of PESCO, EU countries aim to jointly finance defence projects and develop military technology, officials have said. (gs/pk)
