Duda is expected to take part in a debate on weapons of mass destruction, organised by Kazakhstan, which presides over the council.
The Polish president is also expected to meet UN Secretary-General António Guterres, “to discuss the UN’s plans for this year, … peace-keeping missions and the main topics of the UN’s activities for the nearest future,” senior presidential aide Krzysztof Szczerski said.
Duda is also scheduled to meet his Kazakh counterpart and EU ambassadors to the UN.
It is Duda’s first trip to the UN since Poland secured a non-permanent seat on the security council in January. (vb/pk)
