Mosbacher is a business executive, entrepreneur and political activist. She has experience in running cosmetics companies and is the founder of her own international business and marketing consulting company.

“She also sits on the U.S. Advisory Commission on Public Diplomacy, to which President Barack Obama appointed her in 2016,” the White House said.

She is involved in charities which support children and families in need in New York and veterans and military families.

Mosbacher has also penned two books on female empowerment.

The PAP news agency reported that a former US envoy to Warsaw who asked not to be named said the appointment of Mosbacher as ambassador to Poland would be a political nomination of someone tied to the ruling party, rather than the professional nomination of an experienced diplomat.

“Politically-nominated ambassadors may not have years of experience ... but they have much better access to the most important people in the country, to the president, which is often more important than decades of experience in diplomacy,” PAP cited its source as saying. (vb/pk)
