“The nations of Poland and Israel are bound by common history and cultural heritage,” Duda wrote in a congratulatory message to Rivlin.

Duda pointed out that this year Poland marks the 100th anniversary of regaining its independence.

Poland this week also marked the 75th anniversary of the 1943 Warsaw Jewish Ghetto uprising against the country’s German invaders during World War II.

Duda said he hoped the anniversaries would be an opportunity to mark the two nations' common history and for “further strengthening relations between our countries.”
