Poland’s foreign ministry has voiced “full support” for the Netherlands and Australia, which have demanded that Russia accept responsibility for the downing of a Malaysia Airlines passenger jet in 2014 that killed all 298 aboard.

“The only way to do justice to the loved ones of the 298 victims is to engage in constructive cooperation on investigating the disaster and establishing the identities of those guilty of the tragedy,” the Polish foreign ministry said in a statement posted on its website on Tuesday.

On July 17, 2014, Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur was shot down while flying over territory held by pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine, killing everyone on board, most of them from the Netherlands. Dozens of them were Australian citizens.

A team of Dutch-led international investigators on Thursday said that the missile which brought down the plane belonged to a Russian brigade, the BBC reported.

Russia has denied any involvement in the downing.

The Polish foreign ministry called on the Russian authorities “to begin a dialogue on this issue with the Dutch and Australian governments, to take effective measures in order to fully determine what caused the disaster, and to reveal the identities of those guilty and bring them to justice.”
