The meeting of the Council of the Baltic Sea States in the Swedish capital was expected to focus on the future of this form of regional cooperation and on the political situation in the Baltic Sea area, according to public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR new agency.

The gathering was expected to conclude with the adoption of a joint declaration.

The Council of the Baltic Sea States, established in 1992, is a regional cooperation initiative that brings together all Baltic Sea countries – Poland, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Russia and Sweden – plus Norway and Iceland.
