Evidence of Russian links to the Brexit campaign’s largest donor, millionaire businessman Arron Banks, are being examined by the UK’s National Crime Agency, Britain’s The Times news website has reported.

The website reports that the agency received Banks’ emails, which allegedly suggest he had secret meetings with the Russian ambassador in London.

The emails also “show that Banks was offered three Russian business deals during the Brexit campaign,” The Times reported, naming a gold mine venue in west African Guinea, and a stake in the privatization of Russian-controlled diamond miner Alrosa.

Banks' net worth was in 2015 estimated at GBP 100 million. He was one of the co-founders of the Leave.EU campaign. (vb)
