The three- to six-month internships will be paid for by Poland’s health ministry and will mark Poland’s centenary of regaining independence, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.

"Thanks to this, Polish patients will gain access to the latest knowledge, the latest clinical practices,” said Health Minister Łukasz Szumowski. "We will draw on the knowledge of our American colleagues and simultaneously conduct joint research."

Poland and the United States last week signed a memorandum of understanding to work more closely together in health and medical sciences.

The agreement will make it possible to bring the most innovative treatment to Polish patients suffering from illnesses such as cancer, heart problems and infectious diseases, Szumowski said at the time, as cited by the IAR agency.
