Poles will have trouble flying to Barcelona and Alicante in Spain, and to Brussels and Portugal.

Ryanair called off 200 connections to and from Spain, a further 50 to and from Belgium and Portugal.

The private Irish carrier has said it will refund passengers and has offered alternative connections amid the disruptions.

But pilots, who are demanding better pay and conditions, have said that more protests are planned.

They claim that their self-employed status means they have to pay for their own hotels and airport transfers while between flights. (vb/pk)
