Polish president sends condolences after Kofi Annan death

Poland's president has sent condolences after the death of former United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan.

Andrzej Duda said Annan "will remain in our memory as a person who tirelessly worked for the protection of human rights and the improvement of living conditions in Africa".
Annan was an internationally respected diplomat and a laureate of the Nobel Prize for Peace.
As a United Nations' representative in Syria he tried to bring about a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict in the country, before redirecting his attention to the Rohingya crisis.
Annan, a Ghanan national, died in Switzerland on August 18, 2018. He was 80-years-old. (vb/di)
