Polish, Romanian, Turkish FMs to discuss NATO business

Poland’s top diplomat was on Tuesday scheduled to discuss a range of NATO issues with his Romanian and Turkish counterparts, according to the foreign ministry in Warsaw.

The meeting in Bucharest between Polish Foreign Minister Jacek Czaputowicz, Romania’s Viorel Meleşcanu and Turkey’s Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu was expected to focus on decisions made at July’s NATO summit and on “possible responses to the unstable situation in eastern and southern Europe,” the Polish foreign ministry has said.
The meeting marked another round of consultations between Poland, Romania and Turkey, three easternmost NATO member countries whose foreign ministers have been meeting regularly since 2012, the Polish foreign ministry said on its website ahead of the meeting.
It added that the goal of the trilateral consultations was to discuss strategic directions for strengthening NATO capabilities and security in the region.
The Brussels summit of heads of state and government from 29 NATO countries in July approved the "Four 30s" plan to have 30 troop battalions, 30 aircraft squadrons and 30 warships ready to deploy within 30 days by 2020 to combat any threats, amid fears of an aggressive Russia, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency has reported.
