The meeting in the German capital was expected to be the two foreign ministers' fifth this year and follow up on intergovernmental talks held in Warsaw on November 2, according to the foreign ministry in Warsaw.

Czaputowicz and Maas were expected to discuss a spectrum of bilateral, European and international issues, including “the security situation, particularly in the context of the escalating Russian-Ukrainian conflict,” the Polish foreign ministry has said.

While in Berlin Czaputowicz was also scheduled to meet Wolfgang Schäuble, president of Germany's Bundestag, or lower house of parliament, according to the Polish foreign ministry.
