Among the key points of his trip were planned screenings of a special production about Poland by American public TV broadcaster PBS.

Morawiecki was slated to attend a showing of Poland: the Royal Tour at the Lyric Opera in Chicago on Tuesday evening local time. The film will be aired on PBS Television on April 22.

In the one-hour TV show, Morawiecki himself takes American journalist Peter Greenberg on a tour of some of Poland’s historic landmarks and other important sites.

Morawiecki was on Tuesday also scheduled to take part in talks attended by US businessmen in an event organised by the Chicago Council on Global Affairs think tank.

After flying to New York, he was on Wednesday expected to give interviews to the US media, take part in a meeting at New York University and appear at another screening of Poland: the Royal Tour, this time at the city’s Guggenheim Museum.
