The programme to mark the occasion featured two world premieres: a musical recital by young Polish composer Aleksander Nowak, who played NANINANA, a work commissioned by the Institute with this particular event in mind.

Another first will be the screening of a film written and directed by Piotr Stasik, the man behind multiple award-winning film projects.

The new headquarters in the Warsaw district of Służewiec will give a breath of fresh air to the cultural life of the area, said Culture Minister Małgorzata Omilanowska.

“"NInA plays as a very important role in the transmission of knowledge and culture, access to information and to creativity. Firstly it gives people legal access [to culture], while secondly, it is free. Third, every day we enrich ourselves with all sorts of new songs,” Omilanowska said. (rg)
