Organisers say the 18-kilometre route will be "a great way of seeing the capital from a new perspective and act as a lesson about this crucial historical event."

Songs sung during the Rising will accompany the event, and guide Marta Szczeblewska will explain some of the battle points as participants pass through.

"Honor Nightskating Warszawa" is a series of night roller-skating rides along the main streets of the city, aimed at popularising roller-skating and roller-blading.

The route will pass along the following streets: Krakowskie Przedmieście – Królewska – Grzybowska – Al. Jana Pawła II – Stawki – Okopowa –Towarowa – Raszyńska – Żwirki i Wigury – Racławicka – Odyńca – Al. Niepodległości – Puławska – Al. Szucha – Al. Ujazdowskie – Nowy Świat – Krakowskie Przedmieście.

"Honor Nightskating Warszawa" starts on 30 lipca at 21.00 by the Copernicus statue.

The Warsaw Rising started on 1 August 1944 and lasted 63 days before the Nazis brutally razed to the ground about 90 percent of the city's remaining buildings. (jh/rk)
