The winning lady has been given the title of 'Miss World Poland' after defeating 13 candidates from across the country.

Winner Pałucka lives in Sopot, northern Poland, and she is currently studying land management at the University of Gdańsk.

The jury assembled by the Miss World Poland office included figures such as model Natalia Siwiec, musician and TV personality Andrzej Krzywy and journalist and former model Ewa Pacuła.

The world's largest beauty pageant will be hosted on Hainan Island, off the coast of south east China, on 19 December.

Contestants will gather in the city of Sanya, a popular tourist destination that is also the training site for China's beach volleyball team.

Miss World was founded in the UK in 1951.

Poland's first and only ever woman to be crowned Miss World was Aneta Kręglicka, who won the competition in 1989. (nh/rk)
