Broadcast in the series “Reading Europe”, it is promoted by the BBC as “a crime thriller in which family secrets and modern politics mesh in a murder mystery”.

“Entanglement” is part of Miłoszewski’s Teodor Szacki trilogy, in which State Prosecutor Szacki is the main protagonist. A bestseller in Poland, it has won acclaim in the UK and the US.

“Entanglement” was dramatised for radio, in two parts, by the writer, critic and journalist, Mark Lawson. The second part will be broadcast on Sunday 18 October at 3:00 pm GMT. The book was translated by Antonia Lloyd Jones, an award-winning translator of Polish fiction.

Her output includes another of Miłoszewski’s crime novels “A Grain of Truth”, as well as such books as Paweł Huelle’s “Cold Sea Stories”, Jacek Dehnel’s “Saturn”, Artur Domosławski’s “Ryszard Kapuscinski. A Life”, Wojciech Jagielski’s “The Night Wanderers”, and Janusz Korczak’s “Kaytek the Wizard”. (mk/rg/rk)
