“Scattering the Dark: An Anthology of Polish Women Poets” will comprise English translations of work of 31 poets, including Wisława Szymborska - a Polish Nobel Prize winner, Julia Hartwig and Ewa Lipska. The anthology covers periods both before and after the 1989 fall of communism in Poland.

Even ahead of its publication, “Scattering the Dark” has won acclaim from critics. Robert Hass, a contemporary American poet and literary critic, called the anthology an “absolutely rich and appealing book.”

The anthology was edited by American poet and translator Karen Kovacik, who is of Polish origin. (tf/pk)
