Over 200 artists from Poland and around the world performed on a stage at the Polish capital's Piłsudski Square.

The guests, including pilgrims from all over the world, some of them sporting national flags, were welcomed by the Archbishop of Warsaw, Kazimierz Nycz.

"We welcome you and at the same time we would like you to feel good here. Thank you very much for enriching us with your youth, joy, faith, but also with your culture and tradition.

"We would like you to get to know Poland, our capital, the families that you will be staying with, the parishes and young Polish people," said Archbishop Nycz.

The next stop for the pilgrims is the southern city of Kraków, where Pope Francis will be meeting young people 27-31 July. (mol/pk)
