The series, called “Ucho Prezesa” (“The Chairman’s Ear”) pokes fun at the ruling PiS party, which came to power in Poland in late 2015. It is mainly set in the office of the party’s chairman, who receives various visitors, including ministers, the head of the public TV broadcaster and the country’s president.

The series was written by and stars Robert Górski, the leader of one of the most popular standup troupes in Poland.

Prime Minister Beata Szydło said that she watched the series, which appears in weekly episodes on YouTube, with the interior and defence ministers – who themselves are comically portrayed in the episodes. Many of the guests bring gifts for the chairman’s cat, such as fresh cow milk and fish.

Defence Minister Antoni Macierewicz called the series “excellent”, while Interior Minister Mariusz Błaszczak said it was “amusing”.

Among the people who watched the episodes – three have been released so far – was PiS leader Jarosław Kaczyński, who is the main character of the show. According to PiS senator Adam Bielan, Kaczyński made only one remark about the series: “Cats do not drink milk”. (rg/pk)
