Held at the Dollywood Theme Park in Tennesee, the festival of nations features concerts, performances and cooking displays.

“This form of presenting the world’s cultures, popular in the US, draws crowds of many thousands of all generations,” a spokeswoman for Śląsk said.

She added that for many the festival is a unique chance to experience cultures which come “from the distant ends of the earth”.

The 30-strong Polish dance troupe will present a several-minute long medley of dances a number of times a day at a ballet hall located in the theme park. Each performance will be preceded by a promotional video about Poland.

Among other European guests are the festival will be Irish, Scottish and Swiss artists and there will also be performers from Africa and South America.

The Dollywood Festival of Nations will be the 14th trip to the US for the Śląsk dance group.

Set up in 1953, the group has travelled to 44 countries across five continents, giving 7,000 concerts to some 25 million people. (vb)
