Another piece will have its Polish premiere at the event, organized by Polish Radio’s National Symphony Orchestra at its headquarters in Katowice.

Joanna Wnuk-Nazarowa, the orchestra’s director, said concerts at the festival feature symphonic, chamber and choral pieces which were composed within the last seven years.

“That is the only limitation … but there are no age barriers – we have both twenty-something and seventy-something-year-olds – no limits on style…” Wnuk-Nazarowa said.

The festival will see performances of pieces by Poland’s leading composers, including Zbigniew Bargielski, Krzysztof Meyer, Zygmunt Krauze, Hanna Kulenty-Majoor and Rafał Augustyn, as well as less-experienced artists who will have a unique opportunity for their pieces to be performed by a renowned orchestra.

In total, seven concerts will be held over three days during the festival in Katowice, which has been held biannually since 2005. (vb/pk)
