Poland can be sure that its friendship and long-standing ties with America will be maintained by the new administration in Washington, an adviser to US President Donald Trump has said.

Ralph Reed, a religious affairs advisor to Trump, led a study group of American Christian leaders, journalists and artists visiting Poland at the invitation of the Polish foreign ministry.

The tour was co-organized the In Depths Foundation, which deals with relations between Poles and Jews.

The US group visited several sites connected with the Holocaust, including a museum in south-eastern Poland dedicated to the Polish Ulma family, eight members of which were killed by the country’s Nazi German occupiers for sheltering Jews during World War II.

In an interview for the Polish Press Agency, Reed said that no effort should be spared to commemorate people who saved Jews.

Christians should be reminded that it is their duty to fight evil, Reed added.

In the southern city of Kraków, the American group laid flowers at the grave of the late President Lech Kaczyński and his wife Maria. They also discussed pro-family initiatives with Archbishop Marek Jędraszewski, head of the Kraków Roman Catholic diocese.

Last week, two members of the group, Reed and Ken Blackwell, met Polish Foreign Minister Witold Waszczykowski.
