Cyclists rode from the gates Auschwitz-Birkenau German Nazi Concentration Camp to the Jewish Community Centre in Kraków.

“It is not only about commemorating Jewish history but above all about celebrating the rebirth of Jewish life in Poland,” said Anna Bodzińska, a Catholic nun involved in Jewish-Christian dialogue.

Both Poles and Jews from a number of countries have taken part in the event, which is also a sight-seeing opportunity.

The event precedes the 27th Jewish Culture Festival which starts in Kraków on Saturday. (vb)
