Stone Age tomb dug up in Poland

According to the dig’s manager, archaeologist Agnieszka Matuszewska, the Stone Age tomb is intact.

It is one of dozens of late Stone Age megalithic structures, called “graves of giants”, in the area and are, according to Matuszewska, among the most spectacular prehistoric relics in Poland.

The ancient graves, which scientists have said may have also been used for sacred rituals, are up to 130 metres long and three metres high.

They were built using glacial erratics, rocks not native to the area in which they were found, that had been carried there by glaciers. (vb/pk)
