Warsaw drawing more visitors: study

A total of 1.81 million foreigners are expected to visit Warsaw this year, up from by 1.72 million in 2016, according to a study released on Tuesday.

The Polish capital was visited by 1.46 million people from abroad in 2015.

Warsaw has moved up seven notches from 72nd to 65th in the Mastercard Global Destination Cities Index in terms of the number of visits by foreigners.

The majority of foreigners arriving in the Polish capital -- 79.5% -- are tourists, while 20.5% are business travellers.

In the global ranking of cities most visited by foreign tourists, Bangkok is in top place. The capital of Thailand was visited by 19.42 million tourists last year. London was second with 19.06 million and Paris third, with 15.45 million.
