Polish president marks 500 years of Protestantism

Poland "was, and I deeply believe will always be the common good of all Poles: Catholics, Protestants and believers of all other faiths," Duda said during the ceremony at the Royal Castle in central Warsaw.

Poland is predominantly Roman Catholic but some 70,000 Lutherans live in the country.

Lutheranism is a major branch of Protestant Christianity which identifies with the theology of Martin Luther (1483–1546), a German theologian who in 1517 launched the Reformation, when he posted his 95 Theses on the door of Wittenberg Cathedral.
