The four-time Grammy winner will be accompanied by the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice, under the baton of Cristian Măcelaru.
“I think it’s a particularly important concert,” festival director Elżbieta Penderecka said.
“Anne-Sophie Mutter is back after a nine-year hiatus for the third day of the festival. She will perform Ludwig van Beethoven’s violin concerto and will play a piece by Brahms,” Penderecka added.
Mutter is to perform Beethoven’s Coriolan Overture, Op. 62, Beethoven’s Violin Concerto in D Major, Op. 61 and Brahms’ Symphony No. 2 in D Major, Op. 73.
While in Warsaw, Mutter is to be awarded the gold Gloria Artis medal of cultural merit by the Culture Ministry on Sunday afternoon. (aba)
