According to director David Blair, the film serves to commemorate the Polish pilots who fought against Nazi Germany in WWII.

Marcin Dorociński, who played one of the squadron's commanders, said the film was a tribute to the Polish pilots, whom he described as "courageous, uncompromising, crazy".

Radosław Kaim, who in the film portrays the Pole who set up the squadron, said Polish viewers will enjoy the "fascinating" story while non-Poles will be able to learn about the crucial role played by Poles in the Battle of Britain.

As well as the Polish pilots' WWII experience, the film explores their story after the war, when they did not take in victory celebrations in London and were forced to leave England, the IAR news agency reported.
